Review of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) by Adam F — 22 Feb 2013
"Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" is not only a testament to love and loss, but a brilliant science fiction film and a high stakes chase film as well. The acting is great and it's a rare science fiction film that focuses not on the science fiction itself, but on the effects that the imaginary technology would have on people and on the world.
And this technology introduced isn't something crazy like laser guns or flying cars, but more like a real human desire, something that every person wishes they had when they encounter a particularly painful experience in their life so that makes the movie feel real.
There's real chemistry between all of the characters and that makes the drama genuine. You feel like you're growing with this couple and when things go wrong, you get as involved as they are trying to fix it.
It's a touching love story that we can all relate to and truly reminds us that yes, it is truly better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. (Dvd, March 9, 2012).
