Review of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) by Thomas L — 08 May 2014

One of the most original and deep movies of the 00's, Eternal Sunshine is a flm that will stay with you long after it is over. The iea is brilliant, and opens up a lot of potential for themes to be explored, which luckily is the case with the film.

The biggest win in this film, however, is the performances from Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet. Kate winslet is someone whose roles are usually very similar. By looking at the script, one might not be fond of the idea that Winslet should lay a young, enrgetic and somewhat bizarre woman. But Winslet fits her role perfectly, so much so that seeing another actress play the character is as good as impossible.

While it is a depressive story in its way, it also has its comic relief which luckily does not derive or ruin the general tone of th film in any way. The ending is one of those that in some ways may satisfy some people and utterly diasppoint and confuse others. But despite what one may think of the ending, there is no denying al the enjoyment to be found in this picture.
