Review of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) by Juliana L — 06 Jul 2018

Did not enjoy this film the first three times I'd seen it. But I'm adamant. So I tried again. This time I buckled down, watched it midday, and fully engrossed myself in it. And you know, I finally got it.

It's not the hardest film to grasp, but it deserves your full attention. When I finally pieced the timeline together and understood exactly what was unfolding before me, I witnessed the real, raw emotion that many of my peers convinced me was there all along. And of course the concept behind the film is exactly the kind of magical realism that makes for that kind of captivating emotion. And it got me this time. I still don't love it, but I respect it.
