Review of Escape to Witch Mountain (1995) by Marilyn T — 02 Apr 2009
Escape to Witch Mountain continues to be one of my favorite classic Disney movies right up there with Pete's Dragon, albeit on a little more realistic level. Yes, there's special effects and a villain in pursuit but at the core of this film is the strength of the family bond and the meaning of family itself.
Eddie Albert, who plays a crotchety old man who's lost his way, is a real treat in this movie. As he begins to come around, the audience starts to come around too. The original version doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the modern retelling but is just as enjoyable on a completely different level.
