Review of Escape Plan (2013) by Mike S — 07 Mar 2014

Much like Schwarzenegger's The Last Stand, this film is enjoyable enough, but mainly because of Arnie's presence. When Arnie is on screen, the film has much more life to it, as he plays his role well, with a lightness that helps break through Stallone's stone faced performance. Sadly, Arnie's role is quite a bit smaller than Stallones.

It's an action film that tries to be very 1980s, but also contain many modern action elements, including an ending that doesn't feel right, as the plot just ends up feeling contrived.

The prison set up isn't all that impressive, with the only reason we have a film being a very weak subplot, as our motivation for not just throwing Stallone in a cell and not letting him out.

But which action fan can resist an Arnie and Stallone team up? Only Batman and Superman's team up in 2016 could top that pairing...
