Review of Escape from Tomorrow (2013) by Dan B — 01 May 2014
A man has a mid-life crises breakdown in the Magic Kingdom (and Epcot) and starts to see things such as the puppets in It's a Small World giving him evil looks. As he goes further and further down the rabbit hole, weirder things start to happen until the end that I thought was well done and creepy as hell.
The movie was shot at Disney Land and Disney World unbeknownst to Disney and it's amazing how great this film looks, even though it was shot on iPhones and Cannon SLR digital cameras. Imagine the sterile look of Dr Strangelove being applied to Disney World. Suddenly all those animatronic puppets look scary and dangerous.
Then it lingered in my mind for days afterwards and I have to admit that I really want to watch it again. Just be warned that it does have a few taboo elements and even nudity. This one is definitely not for little kids or those easily offended.
