Review of Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971) by Daryl K — 09 Jul 2014
A far superior sequel to Planet of the Apes. Taylor's spaceship lands in the waters off the coast of 70s LA, however instead of the human crew, inside are Cornelius, Zira and a third chimpanzee Dr. Milo. apparantly when all the gorillas were raging war on the forbidden zone, Dr. Milo had been studying the ship and learns to primitively fly it. The 3 got out just in time and passed through another time warp back to Taylor's time. (huh? Yeah pretty much.) Anyway now the roles are reversed and they must now learn to adapt to the human world and more importantly the humans to them.
The preposterous opening quickly melds into a character driven drama and becomes equal if not superior to the original film.
