Review of Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971) by Dean W — 08 May 2011
The best of the Apes series, acting, writing pacing and dialog are unusually good for a 3rd entry into a franchise.
The only ape movie without big "ape" battle scenes and set in "contemporary" (re 1970) america, this is the one that set up the ape history that led to the domination of ape over man. The following sequels just filled in the gaps. Also the one with the most humor then in the second half turns dark and has a heart wrenching ending.
