Review of Escape from New York (1981) by Sean C — 19 Jun 2009
Made by Carpenter when he was still a name to reckon with, this comes close to being his finest hour and is one of the last pages where he didnt overinduldge himself and become a victim of his own success.
Kurt Russell does a mean Clint Eastwood impression and never gets a hair out of place, as the ultimate anti-hero Snake Plissken - move over Riddick. He is supported by a who's-who of name actors all of whom bring their best to the game.
The score pumps, the pace is relentless, just a shame that the sectioning of New York took place in um, 1997, never mind...the movie rocks!
