Review of Escape from New York (1981) by Jared S — 08 Jan 2014
John Carpenter's high concept 80's action flick is gritty, dark and fun. As a B-movie it's awesome, but it's not a great film on many levels. There's so much character development and different themes to be explored in a movie that has a gang of criminals holding a president hostage, but instead its just a mindless action film aside from the unique premise.
The action isn't even that gripping either, but I'll take Escape From New York for what it is and I do appreciate what the final scene has to say.
