Review of Escape from L.A. (1996) by Jeremiah O — 23 Oct 2007
I don't care that much of this mirrors the original. It tries to do so with some humor and acknowlegement that it knows its repeating itself. However the plot drifts a bit more than in the first, and the special effects are worse in this movie than the dated technology used in the original.
I didn't find the villian as menacing either, nor all the "moral" politics of the film all that interesting. Still Russell delivers some good one-liners and delivers on a good chunk of the action.
I enjoyed the whole "basketball game" as well. So three stars it is.
