Review of Escape from L.A. (1996) by Brenden K — 23 Jan 2016
A film that lives up to it's reputation perfectly - shite.
After hearing how bad this film was I had to check it out and I wasn't surprised to find out, it's exactly how I was told.
Although made in 1996 the SFX are so horrifically dated it looks like it was made on a Spectrum ZX. None of that would matter if the plot were any good but it isn't.
It's as if they scrubbed out "New York" and then wrote "Los Angeles" kept the old script and then decided to crowbar cringe worthy stunts into it .
Featuring Snake on a surfboard, Snake on a hand glider with a machine gun, Snake playing Basketball etc.
The sets are shocking too it seems as if they used the left over set from Johnny Pneumonic with campy characters dressed like they're on a gay pride march.
Even the main villain is a blatant rip off of Che Guevara.
I could go on but I won't, Escape from L.A. just isn't worth it..
