Review of Escape from L.A. (1996) by Ashley S — 13 Nov 2007
More of the same fun action as Escape from New York.
Great scene with Bruce Campbell as the surgeon general of Beverly Hills, which is a social commentary about plastic surgery fads, the whole film is one big modern culture commentary, probably even more relevant now than back in '96.
Russell is great as Plissken, and there are great supporting roles from the already mentioned Campbell, Pam Grier, Steve Buscemi and that bird who played Ramada in the Hot Shot films.
Has one of the coolest outrageous endings I've seen since the end of Dead or Alive (1999 - the Japanese one.).
