Review of Escape from Alcatraz (1979) by Russell G — 10 Jan 2012
It is a good prison escape movie that captures the tone and claustrophobic feel of Alcatraz. Clint Eastwood is good as the quiet stubborn tough guy who is unexpectedly clever. His character is resourceful and will stop at nothing to escape.
This movie does not overtake you with flashy fast action but it does not seem all that farfetched for a Hollywood action movie. Instead it progress slowly and walks you through each calculated step of the escape plan all while immersing the viewer in life inside the worldâ(TM)s most famous prison.
A slower pace does not mean it is boring though, in fact it is quite exciting.
