Review of Escaflowne: The Movie (2000) by Kat S — 05 Jan 2008
First off, fans of the series: Don't watch this expecting anything similar to the world you are familiar with and watch this film without any pretext from the series. That being said, this movie is a visual masterpiece, as can be seen in the opening fight sequence.
As the heads go rolling, the audience and I cheered. That might be the only saving grace of this film. The story is dark, brooding, depressing and violent. The story is presented in such a way that I would compare it to being hit by a truck.
I enjoyed this movie, but the rating suffers from the blunt force of the plot and the immense dislike I had for certain VA's.
