Review of Ernest Goes to Jail (1990) by Nick K — 30 May 2008
The best of the Ernest films. An indelible bourgeoisie-versus-proleteriat allegory; Ernest, the lowly proletariat janitor, being assaulted by filing cabinets (!) symbolizes the banality of office life and how it tends to close in on a person's soul.
One question does remain, though - if Ernest is such a retard, how did he build all those complex Rube Goldberg contraptions in his house?
