Review of Ernest Goes to Jail (1990) by Juan C — 17 Aug 2011
Hilarious and in my opinion the funniest Ernest movie. Jim Varney is at his best as the naive and dim-witted hero Ernest P. Worrell. Playing dual roles as hero and villian Varney out does himself along with some of his classic character routines (such as the old lady in green).
Shockingly funny - especially due to Ernest getting magnetized every time he is electracuted. His jail break techniches are classic slapstick and the whole film makes me laugh. I really enjoyed seeing him play the more serious and sinister role of the villian - a nice change of acting from the bumbling Ernest.
