Review of Erin Brockovich (2000) by Jerard W — 29 Jul 2009
If you can get past Julia Robert's plunging cleavage and skimpy wardrobe this is a well acted movie carried by a strong performance by Julia Roberts that shows the essence of Erin Brockovich which is her tenacity, sympathy and her ability to outsmart us.
Most of her outsmarting ability comes from Director Soderbergh's camera location of Julia's boobs and the selection of her wardrobe. That was a very clever decision not because I would love to see some Julia Roberts cleavage and her legs on the screen but he's setting the viewer up to think on our first impressions and then have us realize that Erin will use that and beat her opponents on that very impression as it plays foreshadows in the course of the movie, that is a clever device that works.
Albert Finney and Aaron Eckhart do admirable jobs in supporting roles standing up to, understanding and working with the strong willed Erin Brockovich.
Its a movie that doesn't have to many other supporting roles and has a twiggy thin story line that you can see from miles away however the performances were good enough to recommend.
