This has to be the most bizarre film I have ever seen. Really, I didn't even get what was going on for most of the film. It reminded me a lot of Samuel Beckett's Endgame in presentation, and I'm not a fan of that play.

I understood some of the symbolism but most was completely lost on me. Also, I'm not very fond of films that are symbolism for the sake of symbolism. At least attempt to have a plot, even if you're an artsy independent film, you should still have something resembling a plot.

It didn't even appear to be character-centric either as Henry was basically the only round character in it and I felt the symbolism and over-the-topness diminished him. Apparently, George Lucas wanted Lynch to direct Return of the Jedi based on this film, and I'm personally glad that Lynch turned him down.

While I can only imagine what Lynch would have brought to Jabba's Palace, I can only imagine how different one of my childhood favorites could have been. I might have been severely warped from that experience.
