Review of Eraserhead (1977) by Greg S — 14 Feb 2010
I finally saw this, after years of saying, "I should see that." Wow, I was hoping some indie weirdness would improve my view of David Lynch, but I've gotta say it didn't. There was some cool imagery in this, and dear Henry is altogether relatable in some respects, but overall I just wasn't won over.
Maybe if it'd been a half hour shorter? I dunno. Anyway, I had the same thought I've had when watching most of David Lynch's work: "Is this guy trying to entertain me, or abuse me?" Though there were aspects I liked, I have to say I lean toward the latter still.
