Review of Eraserhead (1977) by Brett B — 04 Oct 2010
If ever horny for a good mind fuck, any one of David Lynch's films will get your rocks off; however, "Eraserhead" is the best of his mental puzzles. No one exactly knows what the hell most of the film's imagery means or how they're connected- I'm sure Lynch himself has an ever changing interpretation of them, despite being the creator.
But through all the surreal and nightmarish imagery in this terribly fucked up world the movie encompasses, something human is present. That's what's most interesting. The mutant baby, the bloody midget turkeys, the "what the fuck is he saying" dialogue, the Lady in the Radiator, the worms.
.. it all is connected, but how they're connected is up to the viewer to figure out. I have my own interpretation, but I guarantee it doesn't match up with anyone else's exactly. That's what makes it a unique experience and well worth the watch.
This movie will stick with you forever.
