Review of Eraserhead (1977) by Braxton W — 26 Oct 2011
David Lynch's Erasehead is a piece on par with the great silent films - which says a lot, seeing as this is not actually a "silent film", but a product of the 70's. Spoken dialogue is at times utelized, as are some spell-bounding special effects, but the power of the movie solely lies in the the empty spaces and its ability to project mood.
Disturbing mood, primarily, sometimes disturbing to a comical extent, but more often than not it's claustrophobic and cryptically symbolic, with its harrowing ambiance leaving you chilled and contemplating the meaning of the movie long after the credits have rolled.
