Review of Eraserhead (1977) by Ivan M — 03 May 2012
David Lynch's uniquely bizzare feature debut is hauntingly different from anything that came before it. It's unsettling atmosphere is quintissential David Lynch, and if you look past it's confusing and strange story, you will see the important experimental techniques that Lynch used in order to create just the right experience he wanted the viewer to have.
The cynics call this movie wierdness for the sake of wierdness, but as in all of Lynch's masterful work, every single detail in the picture has a purpose. According to Lynch himself, no one has come close to his interpretation of the film, and although it is definitely not for everyone, this work of art is a chilling and memorable experience.
