Review of Eraserhead (1977) by Jodie L — 28 Sep 2014
I viewed this movie over the weekend after my manager told me I "Would be deeply disturbed, but would be compelled to watch it again." Working in a movie store, I tend to carry the recommendations of my co-workers close.
I sat down to Eraserhead not quite knowing to expect, but I was nonetheless mesmerized. NEVER in my life have I been impacted by a movie so thoroughly as I have been by this one.
The sound and visual is trademark Lynch: Industrial noise always blaring in the diagetic soundtrack ever so quietly, body horror that makes sense to even a viewer not familiar with Lynch. The theme was one that not a lot of film makers touch on, but should. Highly recommended.
