Review of Equilibrium (2002) by Christopher B — 02 Jun 2011
This movie reminds me of the glory days of science fiction film making, the 70's. Back then scifi movie plots reflected current issues within society or asked the question "what if" ? Sad that we rarely see that these days, with every scifi movie being about hostile aliens who have all manner of dastardly things in mind for human kind.
This film is an exception and it's great! in spite of it's post matrix stylisation and action choreography, it can hardly be blamed for it as it's now 10 yrs or so after the matrix hit our screens yet good film makers are still trying to shake off it's influences.
As always, Bale is awesome. I thought that director Kurt Wimmer would go on to create great things after this but sadly he followed up with Ultra Violet, if you haven't seen that film, don't!
