Review of Equilibrium (2002) by Mike B — 18 Jun 2011
Equilibrium has the most stylistic shootouts I have ever seen in an action film. Though the plot is a bit generic and borrows from many futuristic Utopian films, Christian Bale is excellent in this movie.
The look of the film is great. It's really futuristic and sleek, but what really stands out is the action scenes as mentioned before. The shootouts are fast-paced and well choreographed, using an intriguing technique known as "gun kata" which looks like sword fighting, but with guns.
It's very fun to watch and will probably be the most memorable characteristic of this film. Equilibrium is well worth watching if you enjoy sophisticated action sequences with fast-paced shootouts and style throughout.
