Review of Equilibrium (2002) by Sidney S — 18 Sep 2011
An exciting, and gripping sci fi film like no other. Equilibrium features a great story premise, the fascist government ruling a world where emotion is a crime is fascinating, the emotionless people and area was actually disturbing.
The futuristic visuals and set/art decoration was well done along with cinematography. The action, gunbattle scenes may be Matrix inspired but are never the less quiete awesome and despite its similarities they really are vastly different.
Christian Bale completely stole the show for me, what a great actor. The emotion and sometimes no emotion he gives in this film is haunting, chilling and as I said above emotional. A film that didn't get its due upon release is finally getting its due now that Mr.
Bale is an A list celebrity and in my opinion this generation's greatest actor. I can see this film one day being a cult classic.
