Review of Enemy at the Gates (2001) by Nilanjana R — 29 Jul 2009
Amazing fucking movie. The true story of the duel between these two WWII-era snipers is extremely thrilling and engaging. This movie pulls you in and has a huge battle right from the get go. Also Vasili (the main character) is an uber bad ass and every man should model his life after him, I know I do now.
Also, he gets the girl. Shit was SO cash, bro! The action is extreme and the set design and props and items are top notch and second to none. The advisers did a really good job on this film. Ed Harris plays "Major Koenig" very well, especially considering how he isn't really German.
However, he has Germanic features and both he and Jude Law play off of each other very well. You can fucking feel the BURN of the two soldiers wishing for nothing more than to kill the other, yet at the same time respecting their skills as marksmen.
I highly suggest this film to anyone who considers themselves World War Two buffs or anyone who likes a good movie. Period.
