Review of Enemy at the Gates (2001) by Sinian K — 25 Sep 2009
The film is as strange to me as watching Mickey Rooney being a Japanese in "Breakfast At Tiffany's". It's not just the actors speaking English with an supposedly "Russian" or "German" accent, it's the whole idea of Starlingrad digested and then presented in a western (or worse, Hollywood) point of view.
The importance of Starlingrad in history is so degraded that I wonder if there is a film factory churning out story boards and just paste the actors' faces on them.
