Review of End of Watch (2012) by Lovro H — 15 Oct 2015
The movie follows 2 cops who get tangled up in a big drug business and upon cataching one of the dealers, they are in constant danger. It's not the greatest story, and at times feels overly dramatic and like a tearjerker movie.
The acting was brilliant, though! Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena have a great chemistry and their characters are both likeable and interesting. The ending of the movie was seriously messed up. I loved it.
It strays a lot from the usual path these kind of movies take and it's genuinely shocking and sad. Also what bothered me was that half the movie is shot like a found-footage movie, but then there's also scenes where it isn't shot like one.
I found it very confusing and it's much better if you stick to just one style of filmmaking. All in all, a pretty damn great movie with brilliant performances, but a rather familiar story that is only special for its ending.
I would recommend checking the movie out!
