Amazing acting (mostly - sometimes it went a wee too heavy, bro) is the sole grace of this film. The story was ridiculously predictable; not the twist or the ending - each scene, each act (which it was color by numbers a three act tragedy). The hand held that is so heralded annoyed me. Every once in awhile it would add something but when your actors are so brilliant why do you need a gimmick to relay intensity. I think it was played out early in the film. Script was mediocre. And oh god - no explicable reason for you to say bro that many times. I get it. You did ride alongs with real cops and studied their vernacular. I don't care. No need. Is it just that my friends and I are open to each other (because we don't have family probably. Our family are our bros (d'oh!)) that we do express feelings? But these dudes are so trapped in their masculinity façade that they have too punch home their close relationship by underlying this "bro" (as in brother!). our audience of roided up Neanderthals won't be able to comprehend this dual male dynamic unless we scream it and rwrite in neon pink (for impact) and hit you with Thor's Hammer and say "THEY ARE AS CLOSE AS BROTHERS!".

That putrid permeating detail rippled into the direction, the editing, the script and eventually the acting for me.
