"End of Watch" could have been about two friends who occupy any dangerous profession and it would have been just as effective. In a sense, it is not your average buddy-cop movie it is disguised to be.

Both leading men prove that acting in a film is realistically imitating a person. They do not overact, they look as if they were taken straight out of a documentary. If best ensemble cast can go to two people it should go to Gyllenhaal and Pena.

The cinematography composed of found-footage sequences is effective, but look for no originality here. The true heart of the film actually lies in the direction and the screenplay. David Ayer knows how to use the camera effectively and also knows how to write practically.

He squeezes depth out of every moment in the film. The film explores that dangers of the drug cartel, and a police officers born duty to protect the citizens. The film did not resonate with me as much as it did with some viewers, but "End of Watch" is a crisp representation of friendship and duty.
