Review of End of the Spear (2005) by James H — 09 Jun 2006
Here's the basic plot: A group of foreigners invade and live on the land of another people. They valiantly fight the intruders and some of the invaders are killed. A plot that has been done often before, but this one has a twist.
We are supposed to side with the INVADERS, not the people whose lives and livelyhood have been shattered by the aggresive intruders. Why? Because the intruders are christian missionaries silly! Christianity is the only religion I know of that thinks it's okay to invade and force their minority belief down innocent people's throats.
And we are supposed to feel sorry for these missionaries getting killed? These people were protecting themselves!! How would a bunch of Christians in, let's say, Kansas feel if a group of native Ecuadorians moved in on their pristine suburban existence and started preaching to them about their beliefs?!? I don't think they would be in christain suburbia foe very long.
