15 minutes into this movie I felt like I was about to watch the antithesis of one of Deodato or Lenzi's cannibal movies from the late 70s or early 80s.

After a group of Christian missionaries are killed by the Waodani tribe as an act of revenge for their attempts to convert them, the wives and children of the missionaries move in with the tribe to teach them about God.

As a lapsed Catholic turned atheist I found this movie to be a total cop-out and nothing more than religious propaganda. In NZ pro-censorship nutters The Society For The Promotion Of Community Standards had one of their few victories getting this lowered from R16 to R13 in NZ- ironic considering the amount of stuff they try to have banned! Violence only seems to be OK if its presented in a religious context. What a load of BS! Ironically, the notoriously homophobic SPCS seem to be unaware of the fact that actor Chad Allen is openly gay! Wonder if that would change their opinion of this movie? I found it technically well made but naive and preachy in the extreme. Seriously- in real life- though this is "based" on a true story- the wives and children would have been barbequed too! Wow! Saying your prayers DOES work after all! Hallalujah!Avoid this and watch "Cannibal Holocaust" instead- its banned in NZ, but you can find copies out there if you look hard enough.
