Review of End of the Spear (2005) by Cynthia C — 27 Jul 2011
I give it 3 stars. While the movie was filmed with realistic acting, was clear in showing the faithful martyrdom of the missionaries, and was touching enough that it brought tears to my eyes, it needed much more! The film barely scratched the surface of who the missionaries were and what they were in the Amazon for, barely mentioned the power of the cross as the reason for peace and salvation, and barely showed the great love which led the missionaries to enter the jungle in the first place! The End of the Spear could have been great, had it seriously reduced the amount of actions and wars of the Waodani, in order that more time be given to the true context of the story.
As an alternative, since many people today need the action and war in order to stay entertained, an extra hour could have been given to the movie in order to fix the addressed issues listed above.
