Review of Encounters at the End of the World (2007) by Howard J — 02 Dec 2008
Werner Herzog is the master of the documentary. Between this and "Grizzly Man" Herzog has taken the nonfiction format and elevated it to its most perfect form, documenting both his subjects and himself in respect to them.
"Encounters" is Herzog's lyrical and spiritual ode to science, and it rings truer and affects the intellect and the emotions more than anything else I've seen this year.
