Review of Encounters at the End of the World (2007) by Lee G — 05 Apr 2009
Thankfully, not "another movie about penguins." Werner Herzog instead focuses this documentary on the unique group of people he meets in Antarctica. Among (and including) the scientists, there are philosophers and dreamers from all walks of life, who have come to the End of the World to escape reality, to try something new and different.
It's a world unlike any other, with the main camp compared to eventual civilization on the moon. The place is scary and beautiful at the same time, and a place only true adventurers get to go to.
