Review of Encounters at the End of the World (2007) by Marnie Z — 03 Oct 2009
Another interesting documentary from Herzog with some incredible footage from Antarctica. He combines both the natural wonders of the continent with an insight into to the lives of the scientists and travelers who live and work there.
It probably doesn't stand up against other full on "nature" documentaries on the subject, but Herzog's always been about the human condition - and he combines the two effectively in this case.
The suicidal march of one deranged penguin really has to be seen to be believed!
