Review of Enchanted (2007) by Heatherm — 12 Apr 2015
Enchanted was a surprisingly clever movie, making fun of all the Disney fairy tale cliches we grew up with by pointing out how unrealistic they are in the real world. Amy Adams is hopelessly adorable throughout--her boundless optimism and cheerfulness become obnoxious at times, but even the annoyance is a nice commentary on how silly it is to be as happy and excited as a storybook character all the time.
Some of the movie's gags are on the silly side, and of course the whole thing is syrupy sweet with a predictably storybook ending, but overall I thought it was well done.
