Review of Enchanted (2007) by Anthony D — 28 Jul 2011
An irritating, meddlesome feature, that doesn't measure up at all with any of Disney's past features. Giselle dreams of being a princess, and a bride, and of true love. She thinks she finds all of them with Prince Edward, whom saved her from the evil Witch, Queen Narrissa.
But as Giselle is off to her wedding, Narrissa captures her and sends her to another dangerous, harmful world; ours. The premise is preposterous, ridiculous, and absurd, but I can forgive this if it is at least done well.
It is not. "Enchanted" is poorly acted, but the actors can't help it because the premise is so silly and unbelievable. What do we have here? In every scene of animation, the movie is beautiful, uplifting, charming, and resonant of Disney's past works.
Translate that to live-action, and you have a mess as to where the actors lost alot of their mobility, and spirit, during the transition from animation to live-action. A disappointment, through and through.
