Review of Enchanted (2007) by Russell G — 10 Jan 2012
This is a fun movie that is not afraid to poke fun at itself and the long line of Disney classics that came before as well. It is sarcastic, intentionally corny, and as it puts a fun spin on all a number of animated family movies from over the years.
Amy Adams was a wonderful choice for the real life animated princess that is tragically displaced in the big apple âwhere there are no happy endingsâ?. James Marsden was a great choice for her counterpart and Susan Sarandon is a great evil witch.
I think adults will actually appreciate it even more than their kids. The visuals and different juxtapositions between the animated world and our world work well and are quite fun. This movie intentionally lays it on thick and makes for a uniquely fractured fairytale.
