Review of EMPz 4 Life (2006) by Don M — 25 Feb 2009
Although King's documentary follows a committed community volunteer working to keep at-risk Scarborough youth in school, any hint of a hopeful trajectory is dashed first by the lack of interest/engagement on the part of his uncommunicative charges and finally by well-earned outbursts of frustration and despair.
Valuable also (at least to Torontonians) for its local colour, bringing the headlines down to a human level.
