Review of Empire of the Sun (1987) by Darren M — 25 Feb 2009
Underrated Spielberg piece. Has all the conventions and nuances of a Spielberg film but the spectacular nature of the environment adds further weight and emotion to the film. I've loved it since I was 11 years old and stayed up late in the summer of '96 and saw it, it was the first film I remember making me cry, just beautiful.
