Review of Empire of the Sun (1987) by Michael F — 03 May 2009
Spielberg's epic masterpiece was definitely his darkest film at that time and the pre-cursor to Schindler's List. Based on a true story, young Christian Bale turns in a marvelous performance as a boy who is forced to grow up in a Japanese prison camp during World War II.
The cinematography and music are beautiful and perfect!
