Review of Empire of the Sun (1987) by Rick Q — 19 May 2012
Aside from "e.t.: the extra terestrial" and "jurassic park", steven spielberg's most amazing films are the ones that don't really try to be entertaining. "empire of the sun" is never dull or boring, but it's far from being a popcorn flick, and you appreciate it more for never trying to be more than what it should be.
spielberg is a fantastic story teller and this is a masterpiece that shows just how damn good the man can be.
