Review of Empire of the Sun (1987) by William R — 23 Aug 2012
Superbly directed by non-other than the man himself, Steven Spielberg. This semi-autobiographical movie tells us the story of an 11 year old English boy who finds himself alone. Being alone and growing up in a Japanese internment camp during World War 2 is something a lot of us don't even dream about.
This boys story is amazingly saddening as the film progresses. But pulls together at the end, with an overall well put together film about the situations we all have to face at one time or another.
