A personal favorite about a young boy's (Christian Bale) coming to terms with his naivete regarding war through his bonds with a n'er do well man (John Malkovich) and his experiences of living though the Japanese invasion of Shanghai.
Highly under-rated Spielberg film based on J.G. Ballard's semi-autobiographical novel.
