This movie had me hooked from beginning to end. The romance, the historical backdrop, the "stranger-in-a-strange-land" theme, MacArthur's transparent plays for power and glory, the war-destroyed romance .
.. I bought them all. If you liked "The Good German" (and so few people did), I think you'll be enthralled by "Emperor." Ignore the tomato pulp splattered over the opening credits and give it a try.
