Review of Elysium (2013) by Franz H — 22 Sep 2015
If you haven't seen enough heavy handed social commentaries cloaked in science fiction films, here's another one for you. Rich people are cruel and greedy and don't share what they have with the poor people.
Got it? That's pretty much the theme of the movie. The one surprise for me was how hot Jodie Foster looks in the film. I've never been a fan of hers, but wow, she ages well. In any case, I've always found Matt Damon to be a lightweight, and average and uninteresting.
So as a main character I really wasn't interested. The movie seems to me to be just another attempt by someone who had reasonable success with one movie trying to figure how to relive that success with his second movie.
And, as evidenced by Elysium, usually it doesn't work.
