Review of Elle (2016) by José C — 26 Feb 2017

I really wanted to like this. But all I'm left with is scratching my head. I tried to read the reviews to get some idea of what I missed and all I get are verbose, self-absorbed, pseudo-intellectual ramblings.

The protagonist is totally unlikable and unsympathetic. And the movie is full of these (what seem to me to be) half finished subplots - the multiple relationships at the game business, the strange relationship with the best friend she betrays, the 'daughter-in-law' who suddenly turns sweet.

.. Even the love-hate relationship with her rapist makes no sense. If someone can explain what I'm missing in 100 words or less, I'm all ears.
